The
Sustainable Suite Design Competition
The
Sustainable Suite Design Competition is a remarkable opportunity to showcase
the best hospitality interior design strategies that boast environmental
responsibility
and
enhance the guest experience. The U.S. Green Building Council, American Society
of Interior Designers, and The Network of the Hospitality Industry are
sponsoring this competition to help drive sustainable design practices within
the hotel industry. This competition provides a platform for student and
professional teams from around the world to present their approach to green
hotel interior design.
THE AWARD The
winning design will be built as a model guest room to be presented as an
educational display for the design industry, hotel owners and brands, and
corporate travel executives. Additionally the winning team and design will be
profiled in Hospitality Design, ASID ICON, and the NEWH Magazine.
TIME LINE Entries
are due by August 31, 2009 and judging will be completed by October 1, 2009.
The winning design team must commit to producing construction documents within
six week of award notification for model room fabrication.
The
Sustainable Suite will be unveiled at HDExpo in
in May 2010.
ELIGIBILITY This
competition is open to all individuals and fi rms. Students and young
professionals are encouraged to apply for the “Student and Young Professional
Award,” designated specifically for this group. Entrants for this award will be
judged separately, and will not be required to pay an entrance fee.
JUDGES & CRITERIA All
entries will be judged anonymously by a panel of distinguished representatives,
including designees from USGBC, ASID, and NEWH. Judges will score each
applicant’s submission using an environmental scorecard based on the LEED Green
Building Rating System®
